چکیده
The oomycete Phytophthora infestans is responsible for the disease known as late blight in potato and tomato. It plant pathogen that has caused greatest impact on humankind so far and, despite all studies have been made, it remains most important this crop. In Spain during last years a greater severity of observed both, tomato, probably due to genetic changes populations described recently. aim study was characterization physiological strains 52 isolates P. obtained different potato-growing areas Spain. For purpose, inoculations detached leaves were performed order determine compatibility or incompatibility reactions. A total 17 races found. less frequent virulence factors Avr5 Avr8. By studying epidemiology pathogen, specific breeding program resistance can be implemented.

Small RNAs in Phytophthora infestans and cross-talk with potato
Small RNAs (sRNAs) are small non-coding RNAs usually ranging in size 20-30 nt. They are playing important roles in plant-pathogen interactions. This thesis aimed at studying the sRNA populations in potato and Phytophthora infestans and their role in the potato-P. infestans interaction. An attempt was also made to implement such knowledge to improve resistance in potato against P. infestans. P. ...
متن کاملDiverse mechanisms shape the evolution of virulence factors in the potato late blight pathogen Phytophthora infestans sampled from China
Evolution of virulence in plant pathogens is still poorly understood but the knowledge is important for the effective use of plant resistance and sustainable disease management. Spatial population dynamics of virulence, race and SSR markers in 140 genotypes sampled from seven geographic locations in China were compared to infer the mechanisms driving the evolution of virulence in Phytophthora i...
متن کاملPathogenicity and metalaxyl sensitivity of Phytophthora infestans isolates obtained from garden huckleberry, potato and tomato in Cameroon
Late blight is a significant disease of solanaceous crops worldwide. Knowledge of pathogenicity of isolates and metalaxyl sensitivity is important for effective management of late blight. Solanaceous crops were surveyed in the highlands of west and northwest provinces of Cameroon during 2001 and 2002. A total of 233 isolates of Phytophthora infestans were collected, of which 53 were from huckle...
متن کاملVariability in Virulence Among Asexual Progenies of Phytophthora infestans.
ABSTRACT One hundred two single zoospore isolates of Phytophthora infestans, derived asexually from four parental isolates of US-8 genotype and one isolate of US-1 genotype, were characterized for their virulence phenotypes to determine changes in virulence during asexual reproduction. Potato differentials, each containing a major gene for resistance to P. infestans (R1 to R11), were used to ch...
متن کاملAcquired Resistance to Mefenoxam in Sensitive Isolates of Phytophthora infestans.
The systemic fungicide mefenoxam has been important in the control of late blight disease caused by Phytophthora infestans. This phenylamide fungicide has a negative effect on the synthesis of ribosomal RNA; however, the genetic basis for inherited field resistance is still not completely clear. We recently observed that a sensitive isolate became tolerant after a single passage on mefenoxam-co...
